Pomegranates & Myrrh

Ramallah today. A free spirited woman dancer and wife of a prisoner, Kamar, meets Kais, a Palestinian returnee. At the same time, Kamar's life is thrown into the turmoil of family's legal case against the confiscation of its land. She is caught in the midst of her desire to dance and to break the family's and society's taboos about a prisoner's wife's role. Meanwhile life under occupation rages on.

biography

Born in Washington D.C. in 1952, she studied film, economics and political science. She lives in Ramallah, where she co-founded the production company Ustura Films with Hani E. Kort in 1996. Pomegranates and Myrrh is her first feature film.
